Solving the geotechnical problems caused by differences in ground level for a renowned school in the heart of Pune city. Helping client in optimizing usage of valuable land by Reinforced Soil Wall.

Introduction :

As a solution provider, SSES was involved in Design & Drawing, Supervision, Supply and Execution of 8 meter height retaining wall using SECUREMESH SYSTEM and NON-WOVEN GEOTEXTILE for Euro School, Kharadi, PUNE between Feb 2021 to April 2021.

Reinforced soil walls are gaining considerable attention as retaining structures and providing a valuable alternative to traditional reinforced concrete walls. The reinforced soil wall is a rock faced modular flexible structure. The increasing demand for land for infrastructure and development has become a key factor in construction planning in recent decades

Challenges :

Time duration & speed of work was the key here as we had to complete the project before monsoon in Pune which usually is end of May.

Solution Provided :

SECUREMESH SYSTEM & NON-WOVEN GEOTEXTILE Application-

We made the main retaining structure design for the construction of a Retaining Wall 8 meter height to fill the ground level difference of Euro School. This Reinforced soil wall forming the marginal land was planned be used for outdoor sports like football ground & swimming pool.

It was important to find the most space-saving, cost-effective, attractive & safe solutions possible for the construction of this wall structure. As a solution provider; we worked with clients to provide value engineered and scalable solutions for Earth Retention & Soil Reinforcement.

Conclusion :

Before & During Execution, tests like PLT & SRT among others were done which complied with the set standards.

Post Construction, the site was given a go ahead by Goel Ganga Development.

The construction of retaining structures using SECUREMESH systems and other reinforced soil systems has significant advantages:

  • Height of retaining structures made using reinforced soil wall can go up to 70 meter by using Geogrid as primary reinforcement and integrated tail of Securemesh as secondary reinforcement.
  • Resistance to significant settlements and displacements (flexible structures).
  • Possibility of greening the front side (aesthetically acceptable solution).
  • Speed and ease of execution.

Given these advantages, we believe that Reinforced Soil Wall structure will be increasingly used in the future.
